Zone 2 gardens

Living right in the middle of the Canadian prairies is very challenging for gardeners that envision gardens and flowers growing as seen in gardening magazines found on the shelves in any bookstore or grocery store. Kudos to those photographers whose skill is showing the beauty of the flowers, planters and gardens that each article is showcasing. So nice to look and dream of and then back to reality.

However, do not be alarmed, with research and visiting your local greenhouses, you will find so many new varieties of plants to make your gardens and as beautiful as the featured ones in the glossy magazines.

Eventhough zone 2 gardeners may think only zone 2 plants, there are many plants that have been growing for years that are actually classified zone 3 or 4. These are many of the spirea, hardy roses, dogwoods, junipers, cedars (Thuja spp.), and most of the perennials sold in the greenhouses.
